Youth Camping Program

Youth Networking and Team Building Program is the full name of our program. The aim of this program is to promote youth in sharing experience and knowledge and building team spirit among youth in Cambodia.

OYG has already conducted 5 camping programs:

• Camp 1 in Tamao Mountain
• Camp 2 in Soun Soben
• Camp 3 in Sihanouk Ville             View Report

Nearly 8 months after the 4th Youth Camp, OYG arrange the 5th Youth Camp in one of the most beautiful places in Cambodia. Kep province is a gorgeous campsite for OYG to arrange 3 days and 2 nights camp, starting from 7th to 9th of November 2009.
The 5th OYG Youth Camp is celebrated under the theme “Youth’s Role for Promoting National Literacy and Social Morality” with around 100 participants from various schools and institutions.

Cooperated and supported by the government, Borey Komah Orphan Center (Kep), and other NGOs like YFP and KYSD, our camping is arranged smoothly to raise awareness of all young people about their role in promoting national literacy and code of conduct in the society. Also, it is a very good opportunity for young people to learn to live and work together with new friends or camp-mate.

As promised to participants of the 3rd youth camp, OYG has finally made the 4th youth camp happen in one of the most famous tourist destinations in Cambodia, Mondulkiri. It was a 3-day and 2-night camp starting from March 7 and ending on March 9.

Under the theme of “Promoting Youth’s Involvement in Good Governance,” the 4th Youth Networking and Team Building Camp of the OYG was actively participated by youth from different universities, such as RUPP, RULE, PUC, NUM, NU, UC, ITC, IU, CMU, BBU, RUA, and PPIU, as well as by employees at some governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations in the country, making up the group of almost 150 young people.

Sponsored by AngkorOne. LLC, PPSEZ, KYSD, PDP, Khmer Civilization Foundation, Chantrea Guest House, Paññsstra University of Cambodia, Mr. Chim Somongkol and Ms. Keat Lyna, staff of AngkorOne. LLC, and Khmer compatriots overseas. Activities of the 4th youth camp were designed to enable participating youth to understand better about their roles and importance in community development and good governance. Besides, addition to widen youth networking and team spirit, learning to live together in a helpful, understanding manner in both happy and hard times was another objective that OYG aimed to achieve from this camping experience.

OYG has successfully organized 3rd Youth Networking and Team Building Camp on October 25-26, 2008 in Sihanouk Ville which was participated by 130 youth from different background. The 3rd youth camp was held to achieve these objectives: 1) promote friendship, mutual understanding and build capacity of OYG members and other youths through knowledge and experience sharing activities, 2) build team spirit and network between and among the youth, 3) set a role model for others and 4) engage and inspire youths in social and volunteer activities and for them to understand environmental issues and get involved in the environmental protection efforts. Prior to the camp, the selected participants were invited to attend an orientation session on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the office of the United National Development Program (UNDP). Members of the Executive Committee, Miss Kong Davy and Miss. Chhay Chansopheaktra briefed the participants about the overall objectives and the entire schedule and activities during the camp and provided the participants with opportunities to raise questions, share their expectations as well as suggestions. It was a very good orientation which helped all the participants better prepared for the camp.

Oct 25, 2006 - participants began to gather at 6:30 a.m, waited to board the buses in front of the Royal University of Phnom Penh. At 6:47 a.m, the buses departed for Sihanouk Ville. On the way to the camp site, many activities occurred on the buses including the reminding of the camp activities; announcement of the ground rules; distribution of caps, T-shirts and breakfast by the Executive Committee of OYG and the event organizing Sub-Committee. Then the self-introduction began which was followed by entertainment program such as singing and sharing jokes, etc. in order to increase intimacy among the participants.
