UN-HABITAT: World Urban Youth Assembly International Essay Competition The world urban population has grown at very high rates over the past two decades. According to the UN-HABITAT State of the World Cities Report 2008/2009, it is estimated that by the middle of the 21st century, half of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. The theme for this year’s UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum which is being held in Rio de Janeiro from 22 to 26 March, “The right to the City– bridging the urban divide” seeks to engage practitioners and policy makers to rethink the urban utopia and identifying the best practices and actions in every city, creating a better world where everyone can live with dignity, respect and citizenship. Young people living in urban areas can play a significant role in addressing the challenges facing decision and policy makers planning for and managing cities. Young people from around the world participating in the World Urban Youth Assembly on 19 and 20 March will have an opportunity to deliberate and make recommendations to better inform the urban agenda. Fulbright Student Fellowships for Master and Ph.D The Fulbright Program was established to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge and skills. It provides funds for students, scholars and professionals to undertake graduate study and advanced research. The program was promoted by and named after Arkansas senator J. Volunteer Youth Delegates Outstanding Youth Group of Cambodia (OYG) The Outstanding Youth Group of Cambodia (OYG) was founded on April 06, 2008 by a group of dynamic young people who wish to promote friendship and solidarity among all walks of life so that we all can work together for a better society. OYG was formed to work with the youth in order to promote their interest and participation in social affairs. Major activities of OYG include: 1) establishing network and coalition among young people, the youth and elderly who support youth activities to help develop their society; 2) building capacity of the young people and youth through organizing venues and opportunities for them to learn from each other and from resource persons on necessary skills and ethics to be good leaders of the future generation; 3) providing information, assistance and counseling for the youth in seeking jobs and study opportunities. In light with its expansion of the core activities and education outreach program, OYG seeks to recruit many Volunteer Youth Delegates (Volunteer) from all Universities in Phnom Penh: Major Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the OYG Secretariat and in close cooperation with all the Project Coordinators of all major program components and YCDP trainee of OYG, the Volunteer Youth Delegates perform the following tasks: - Facilitate communication and disseminate information among students in their universities - Organize venue, invite participants and get involved in conducting education outreach activities in their respective universities. - Assist OYG in organizing events such as youth camps, forums, congress and training activities, etc. - Perform other responsibilities as requested. Requirements: Some English knowledge and ability to understand basic communication via e-mail - Students or recent graduate with good academic record or with some relevant experience in the past will be advantage - Good knowledge about using e-mail and internet as communication tools - Computer skills (Ms Word, Excel,). Own a computer (laptop) and use it often will be advantage - Good inter-personal skills (sociable, friendly, pleasant, etc) - Strong commitment to learn new experience and grow capacity in an evolving youth group. Work Schedule: Flexible Working Hours including Weekend as needed. Minimum 7 hours per week. Benefit: The selected Volunteer Youth Delegates will enjoy the following benefits: 1) earn good experience working for one of the leading youth groups in Cambodia, 2) develop personal skills and capacity; 3) be part of the large network of young people and youth; 4) opportunities for earning money as income for some specific activities based on work. No based salary will be provided for these positions.

Fellowships at The National Gallery of Canada Competitive fellowships are offered in the fields of Canadian Art; Indigenous Art; and History of Photography. The fellowships are open to international competition. Fellowships are tenable only at the National Gallery of Canada. The term of full-time residency must fall within the period 1 September 2010 to 31 August 2011. Awards can be up to $5,000 a month, including expenses and stipend, to a maximum of $30,000. Toshiba International Foundation Fellowship On behalf of the Toshiba International Foundation, the EAJS Council selects two to three candidates for a fellowship to undertake research in Japan. The next application deadline is 30 April. Applications are invited for three Toshiba International Foundation scholarships for a three-month stay in Japan to be completed by the end of March 2011. There are three scholarships, generously funded by the Toshiba International Foundation, and each is worth 7000,- Euro. Applicants must be graduate students.

The 5th World Youth Congress Turkey 31 July - 13 August 2010 Turkey will welcome 1000 young people between 18 and30 from around the world to meet during Istanbul 's year as the European Capital of Culture. A youth-organized, youth-led event, the World Youth Congress brings together youth activists, media professionals, entrepreneurs, artists and educators in a 10-day programme of lectures, workshops and cultural events. The young participants will discuss policy issues, share their experiences with development professionals from government, the UN and think tanks and take part in an exhibition of the latest achievements in Youth-led Development. In this 5th Edition of the Congress, delegates are focusing on further professionalizing the field of Youth-led Development by producing a toolkit to assist young development project managers to better self-assess and monitor the impact of their projects. It will also be looking at low carbon development policy after the Copenhagen COP-15 meeting, the role of youth in post-2015 / post-MDG development policy, and the concept of ‘IMECE’ – the ancient Turkish system of solidarity. Each World Youth Congress includes a feature on Local action projects: for five days, congress delegates will travel across Turkey to assist in local, community improvement projects, designed and delivered by local youth. This will give each delegate a chance to test out in practice ideas discussed in the congress workshops and round tables.
